1st Master In Ceramic Implantology – Rome 2020
OPEN TO: Doctors, Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Biologists, Rheumatologists, Orthopedists, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Dental Technicians and other operators of the sector
MASTER GOALS: Make the medical/dental class aware of the increase in diseases related to metals hypersensitivity and train the dentists in the effective use of immunocompatible Zirconia implants
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Metals in very low doses are essential for our metabolic functions. Unfortunately in our society we are continually exposed to high quantities of metals (food, dyes, air and medical devices) and this leads in subjects predisposed to the onset of numerous damages.
It is estimated that 15-20% of the world population is allergic to Nickel. Orthopedists and dentists are increasingly finding themselves having to remove implant prostheses due to the onset of local tissue alterations and systemic diseases often insidious for health such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Cutaneous Allergies, Autoimmune Diseases and Fibromyalgia. The aim of the Master is to make the medical class aware of the early recognition of hypersensitivity to metals and to direct patients to appropriate therapies. The intent of the organizers is to stimulate collaboration between doctors and companies in the sector to develop alternatives to metals used in orthopedics and dentistry for the benefit of patients and greater safety for professionals. Dentists play an important role in the fight against metal allergies as they use many potentially dangerous alloys for health. Mercury amalgams, metal prostheses and titanium implants release ions that initially diffuse into the surrounding tissues inducing phenomena of metallosis and peri-implantitis. Subsequently these toxins migrate along the lymphatic pathways and affect noble organs and disturb important metabolic functions. The metals bind electively to the cells of the immune and nervous system with the onset of type IV allergy (cell-mediated) and aspecific but invalidating neurological disorders often difficult to diagnose.
The Master provides clinical and instrumental tools for the certain diagnosis of metal allergies. Dentists will be trained in the safe removal of titanium implants, chelation therapy and effective use of Zirconia devices, a highly bio-compatible and immunocompatible material. The ultimate aim of the event is to stimulate dialogue between professionals for a solution to the problems of allergic patients in a faster, safer and cheaper way. In patients at risk (heart patients, the elderly, allergic patients or patients with chronic diseases) doctors should think about prescribing Zirconia devices as an alternative to metals as they are safer and well accepted by tissues.
Finally, professional opportunities will be created in the medical field of considerable development, demonstrated by the recent establishment of several international ceramic implant companies and the birth of numerous companies that manufacture all-ceramic implant devices.
