Osteointegration of ceramic implants

Osteointegration is a well-controlled healing process that occurs around implants and has been known since Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s early work on his historical experiments on rabbit shins.

With the increasing incidence found in meta-analyzes on mucositis and peri-implantitis, we can evoke an emerging concept to be included as a determining factor in the long-term success of implants: immuno-integration.

The implants we use must be immune to long-term tolerance. The publication of T. Fretwurst raises many questions about titanium. Ceramic implants could be an answer to these problems.
